Tampa company to donate truck, supplies to military veteran charity

Christmas is just around the corner and Black Diamond Coatings is scheduled to donate a pickup truck and supplies to Heaven on Earth for Veterans on Wednesday in Tampa during a cookout to be held from noon until 1:30 p.m.

Black Diamond Coatings, a national producer of sealers or brick pavers, concrete and wood, is hosting the cookout at their office where they will present a Chevrolet pickup truck with additional needed supplies to the staff, board members and veterans of Heaven on Earth for Veterans. "As a Marine veteran, I feel it is important to give back to our service members in need and this is a way our company can give back to the veteran community here in the greater Tampa Bay area," said David Warren, president of Black Diamond Coatings. "We look forward to spending the afternoon together with our staff and those from Heaven on Earth for Veterans."

Heaven on Earth for Veterans provides transitional housing for former military members. They regularly pick up furniture and larger items and have been in need of a truck to transport these donations.

The leadership at Black Diamond Coatings saw the need and answered the call. In order to make the truck ready, Dimmitt Chevrolet donated and replaced parts to ensure the truck is in great working condition. "We continually look for ways to give back to those who have served our country and this was just one of those opportunities we are proud to have been able to participate in," said Lawrence Dimmitt IV, owner of Dimmitt Chevrolet.

Black Diamond Coatings will also be donating their masonry sealer, NG+, a no gloss masonry sealer, with DIAMOND GRIT‚ a texture additive which helps with slip resistance. DIAMOND GRIT‚ will help provide safer walkways for veterans who have trouble walking up and down steps of the homes of Heaven on Earth for Veterans.

"We were so happy to hear that there was an organization like Black Diamond Coatings who was willing to donate a truck to us this year," said Carol Barkalow, a founder of Heaven on Earth for Veterans. "It means a lot especially coming from a veteran-owned business."
